They highlight the fact that human activities of today are doing more harm than good for the future of planet Earth. Need of the hour amidst this environmental crisis is steps towards a sustainable future by building a greener and healthier planet. The work is cut out and we need green crusaders, who will help fight the issues that plague our environment while encouraging others to join them. As Barack Obama once rightly said, “A change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things.

Human intervention is not all that bad. For example, it takes around 600 to 1000 years for a forest to self-seed; but we can accelerate the process by planting and nurturing one sapling at a time. Just one acre of trees produce enough oxygen for 18 people to breathe for a year; while consuming carbon dioxide equivalent to that produced by driving an average car for 26,000 miles.

When it comes to environment, every little act counts. Welspun Renewables shares this thought and is on one such revolutionary path to foster a green future. With the implementation of three Es – Empowerment, Education, and Environment – Welspun Renewables has carved a path towards a greener, healthier future.

In line with their vision to light up India with clean, sustainable energy, they have undertaken the Green Heroes initiative, which aims at identifying and honouring individuals working selflessly towards a healthier environment. Welspun Renewables believes that “Everybody can be a Hero” and that the power to build a sustainable environment lies in the concern and the courage to take an initiative.

    Hi Philip

I fear these predictions could come true, and you present some very scary statistics.

Let’s all try to do our bit to reduce the likelihood.

    Hi Philip,

Great article and well done on spreading awareness on this very big problem that faces us all. I do recycle anything I can. In Australia there are recycle bins everywhere but sadly not everyone uses them. Great message thank you.

  7. Hi Phillip,
This is a good initiative by Welspun Renewables. The Earth is ours and should be sustained for empowerment and life. Energy renewals should be perfectly implemented and we all have active roles to play. I agree lets join hands to make the earth a better place!

    Hey Philip,

What an informative post. Lots in it that I was unaware of. I know us humans have lots of waste but I was not aware of the figures. It is horrifying to say the least. If only everyone did just their bit then we would be a lot better off.

Your style of writing really did get me excited to wanting to become a green hero in my own right and thinking about what part I could play. I do the small things but I never think I am doing enough to do just my bit.

    Thanks for a great post.

    Rachel.

  9. Shocking figures. Thank goodness there are some groups in this world who are trying to do something about it. I support several here in the UK. I do what I can by recycling but the recycling scheme in the area I live in the UK is fussy about what you can put in the recycling boxes.

I take my own bags to the supermarkets but they are not doing enough to encourage people to bring their own. They were giving points on their loyalty card schemes but that has stopped now and they are still handing out plastic bags. I can remember when we lived in Canada that they packed your shopping in large strong brown paper bags. I don’t see why they can’t go back to those. They are said to be a better environmental choice than plastic bags.

Great that you are bringing attention to Green Heros Philip.

  10. Hi Philip,

I do believe that it all starts with one person at a time to be responsible. I have a compost pile in my yard so all veggie scraps go there and it makes for a great fertilizer for my garden in a year’s time.

I recycle EVERYTHING! We do have a good recycle program where I live. And for energy..we have to be mindful of how much we use. We don’t need to keep lights on during the day unless it is a dark room. My grandmother had a saying that is deep within me. “Use God’s Light” And I do lol.

Cooling and heating is another way we can help. I dress in layers at home in the cold winter keeping my heat low. In the Summertime I’m pretty lucky because I live in a forest by the beach and it is cool.

When you think of all the things you can do on a daily basis, we can reduce our carbon footprint. If we were all mindful, we can make a huge difference.
