THE TORRENTIAL RAIN HIT

ONE OF THE MAJOR THE CITES IN INDIA!

CHENNAI CITY IS UNDER THE WATER FOR ALMOST TWO TO THREE DAYS!
FOLLOWING FEW LINES ARE THE THOUGHTS CAME UPON ONE OF MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS’ MIND!
THE AUTHOR WROTE THIS THOUGHT IN THE MALAYALAM LANGUAGE
AND THIS IS JUST A FREE TRANSLATION OF THAT THOUGHT INTO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!
JUST A FREE TRANSLATION WITH FEW LINES ADDED HERE AND THERE!

Just A Rain Taught Us A Great Lesson!
No Churches…
No Temples…
No palatial Buildings…
No huts…
Everything just a building to sit back…
No High-Quality One…
No Low-quality One…
All just To Keep warm, Just Wrappers
No Five Stars…
No Costly One…
No Cheap One
All Just Hunger
Only The Same Hunger…
No Man
No Woman…
No Poor Man…
No Rich Man…
No High Cast…
No Low Cast…
No Hindu
No Islam
No Christian
No You Or Me
Only We The Humans…
Just to Keep Away From Sweeping off in the Flood Stream…
A Place To Sit, On A Higher Place…
Just To Sit A Place…
A Wrapper to Just Keep Warm
An Old Cloth…
A Piece of Bread To Keep Hunger Away…
A Drop of Water To Keep Thirst Away…
This is Only They Need…
Their Great Need In Life…
They are called Human…
Just Humans…
They Only Demand, A Drop Of Water To Drink…
They Are Called Humans…
Here, The Teacher is Not Quran, Bible Nor Mahabharath
Instead Just A RAIN!!!
Yes, Just A Rain Taught Us A Great Lesson!!
Do We Really Understand The Lesson?
Is the Big Question Still Remains Before Us Humans!!!

MY RESPONSE TO THAT NOTE:

  1. Hi Phil,

    Those were beautiful lines :)

Yes, Chennai has gone through such a lot and it saddens my heart to see the great loss. However, I am glad things are on a recovery curve now. Not to mention the way people have come forward to help each other in this hour of need – this shows the power of humanity, isn’t it? It sure is a great lesson to learn. Prayer and wishes are with those who are still recovering from the loss of life and other things though.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead and I see the snow!! :)

    • Hi Harleena,
So glad to see you here again, :-)
yes, in such situation people joined together and helped each other forgetting their class, creed or religion!
What a wonderful situation that is!
How nice it would be if that ‘helping each other’ tempo continued for ever!
Oh my it looks like a dream!
Chennai is limping back to normalcy with some kind of epidemics around, voluntary organisations and government is on war-foot to help the victims. Let us hope for a better tomorrow by learning from such incidents.
May you have a good day
      Keep sharing
      Best Regards

  2. Hi Philip

This is indeed a great lesson and thank you for doing the translation to help us to understand the thoughts of the writer. All lives matter and the one thing that we have in common for sure is the blood that flows through our viens.

I pray that people can come together at a time such as this, put all differences aside and help each other.

    Be safe. God bless you.

    Hey Phil,

What a great poem with a lesson attached. The rain showing us that we all just humans. For me this reiterated that we are all equal, no one better than the other. We all have the same basic needs for survival. I feel a little light hearted after reading this. Thank you.

Interesting read but I like your reply for that rather than the other thought because people will forget everything once the troubles are over.
