But here’s the sad truth: almost 90% of the mom bloggers never make even a penny from their blogs.

I observe a common pattern in successful bloggers and that is: they don’t focus on earning more money. They focus on building relationships with other bloggers and that’s why they are successful.

Let’s first quickly discuss some of the successful mom bloggers so you will understand what it takes to build a better blog being a mom.

How can Mom bloggers make money? Check out the answer at Rahul's Guest post @ pvariel.com Click To Tweet

How Mom Bloggers Are Making Money

Mom bloggers

Although there are a ton of ways to make money as a mom blogger, I highly recommend you to give a try to the following 4 money making strategies.

  1. Offer services
  2. Create and sell online courses
  3. Recommend products that you love
  4. Offer 1 on 1 coaching

Let’s now talk about each one of them so you can easily find what works best for you and your audience.

4 proven ways to make money as Mom Bloggers

#1. Offer services

Let me tell you the quickest way to make money as a mommy blogger: start offering services.

You can make money from day 1 if you offer services to your audience.

There are so many mom bloggers out there who offer freelance services like writing, designing, private coaching, speaking engagements, etc.

So what kind of services can you offer?

Well, it depends majorly on your niche (read industry).

If you’re a food blogger, you can get contracts to supply different dishes for occasions to a specific client or a restaurant. If you’re a photography blogger, you can take your client’s birthday photos or wedding photos to make money literally from day 1.

Are you getting me?

If you’re so desperate to make money as a mom blogger from day 1, offering services is probably the fastest way to succeed.

#2. Create and sell online courses

Online courses are becoming insanely popular.

Why?

They offer a TON of value to the students who enroll. They are also great for making huge profits.

Just have a look at Ramit Sethi. Then there’s Derek Halpern and Amy Porterfield.

All these guys make millions of dollars every single year by offering courses to their students.

Have a look at the following screenshot which shows that Ramit Sethi from I Will Teach You To Be Rich (aka IWT) makes 95% of his income from selling online courses.

ramit sethi revenue

Here’s my question to you. You are already teaching some useful things through your content in your blog. Then why not create a paid online course?

Just set up some x-week course through automated emails. And how much you can get profit by selling your online courses depends on your brand authority, how many people purchase your course etc.

For a sample, you can try offering free pdfs which has valuable content to gain trust from the users and also to know how many are really interested in your products.

#3. Recommend products that you love

Pat Flynn – whenever I hear about affiliate marketing, the guy “Pat” comes to mind almost always.

He’s the one who earns over $100,000 every single month from affiliate marketing.

pat flynn income report

Affiliate marketing is undoubtedly the best way to make passive income from your blog. But the only thing about affiliate marketing is that it is NOT easy. It takes a lot of time to master the art of selling.

Here are few affiliate marketing tips just in case if you’re thinking about using it to make money as a mom blogger.

  • Focus on promoting only those products that you love and use. That way, you can better explain to your audience why should they buy the products that you recommend.                                                                      Make sure to use affiliate links (and disclose them with a quick note saying “this is an affiliate link and I make some money if you buy using it”) while promoting those products.
  • Write product reviews. Don’t be too generic. There are a lot of bloggers like Anil Agarwal who are successfully making money by writing great product reviews.
  • Remember if you write complete positive about any product then you lose the trust of your customers. Write your genuine opinions. If you have used that product then you can show video or images if any problem you faced (to show your audience how the products help).
  • Find what other successful bloggers are doing. Find out how they are promoting their affiliate products. You will learn a lot!

#4. Offer 1 on 1 coaching

Donna Merrill is a great example who’s monetizing her blog by offering “mentoring” aka 1 on 1 coaching.

donna merrill coaching

So how it works?

You offer 1 on 1 coaching usually through a Skype call, email chat or directly (depending upon your convenience) and you get paid upfront. Sounds amazing, right?

Offering 1-1 coaching is the BEST way to make money when you have a loyal audience.

It helps you in 2 ways.

  • To make more money (in your spare time)
  • To help people to build a successful business

It’s a lot like “fun with profits”, right?

Final verdict about making money as mom bloggers

Making money as a new blogger is NOT hard. There are a ton of mom bloggers out there who are successfully making money in their spare time. Not only blogging allows you to spend quality time with your family but it also helps you earn some extra income. So why not give it a try?

  27. As you have pointed out using mom bloggers as an example, a majority of the bloggers fails because of one reason. They give too much importance to making money. They don’t give importance to the whole helping others aspect of a blog. As you have pointed out bloggers should give importance to making relationships through social media and other means. Also, try to really help others. Then naturally, traffic flows and you can monetize your blog successfully.

In western countries where fathers do not live with their wife and children, there comes a need for mothers to live in home for their children responsibility and as well as earn some money for living hood in order to avoid begging. You have giving a great idea about all 4 aspects towards earning ending including ‘Offer services’ that may be customer care services very popular these days and Offer 1 on 1 coaching which is also very easy because you may choose training about your own field that may be on Skype. I hope you understand my point of view and comment also :).

  41. Hi Philip and Rahul.
After two years, this post is still fresh and content does apply to bloggers.
I would have to add that making your own product does put you “on the map.” It sets you above and beyond other bloggers. Once done (giving it all you got and then some), marketing comes into play. One must study up on their marketing skills otherwise the product will be collecting dust.
    Thanks again,
    Donna
