I am so glad to welcome and introduce my Guest Author Chery Schmidt to my readers.

She is a well-known author and a professional full-time blogger/Global Entrepreneur who is Passionate about Helping Average People To Build Their Business.

This is a Guest Post written by Chery on my request.

We, especially the blog authors post comments to our fellow blogger’s pages.  But unfortunately, in many cases, the identity is not revealed or exhibited.

When we comment on Word Press Blog pages the default image shows up.  Sadly most of such comments though it’s well written and well suited for the post, may not appear on the comments page.

The main reason behind this is the avatar picture along with it is not showing its real identity. Thus the blog owner does not go into it and approve it.

Instead, if a comment is posted with a real Avatar Picture it will surely get noticed by the blog owner and it will be soon approved and appeared in the comment column.

Chery Schmidt needs not much introduction in the world of blogging.  She is an established author on the World Wide Web.  She lives In North Woods of Wisconsin.

In this post, Chery Schmidt speaks about this important subject and how we can easily add our image along with the comments.

She Writes Read on…

One of my pet peeves is when someone leaves me a comment on my Word Press Blog and the default image shows up.

So today I am going to take you to step by step on how easy it is to add an image and the importance of having your picture show up.

WordPress blog commentsFirst off let’s talk about this image, you will want to use a picture of YOU!

This image is called gravatar and will follow you all over the internet, Yepper’s where ever you leave a comment this will be there.

We all know that one of the most effective ways to build your brand and get recognized by others is to start commenting on other

blogs.   Right?

Do you want to get noticed, start commenting on WordPress Blogs? Remember to use your profile image while commenting, it gives more value to your brand.

The more blogs you comment on, the more exposure you are going to get.

Let’s say you leave your message with some great advice on 4 different blogs a day.

Now, don’t you think others are going to start wondering who you are and what you do?

Of course, they are, and they are going to start clicking back to your blog to see what you’re up to.

Now no more worrying about how come, your profile picture is not showing along with your comments. Read this post via pvariel.com Share on X

Show Your Face Next To Your Comment

You are branding You, Right?

Profile images are vital while making WordPress Blog Comments. How to insert your image? Check out this tutorial by Chery via pvariel.com Share on X

So why not have your face next to your comment instead of the default image.

This just makes sense, it is actually pretty easy, follow my directions below to add your picture to your WP blog comments.

If you are using wordpress.com, then you already are set up with an account at gravatar.com (These 2 sites are linked together) All you will need is the same username and password to get access.

If you are using wordpress.org

Go to Gravatar.com

Input the SAME email address you have listed in your WordPress.org ‘User’ profile section (User Section found from your WP Dashboard > Click on ‘Users’ > You will see the email address attached to your WordPress profile there)

Gravatar will send you a Confirmation Email to this address

Use the link in Confirmation Email to go back to Gravatar.com to ‘register’ a Gravatar account

Upload your photo, you can upload from your computer or off the internet somewhere, you also have the option to use your webcam.

You can then crop your picture to make it fit into comments better.

The more blogs you comment on, the more exposure you are going to get, says Pro. blogger Chery Schmidt @ pvariel.com @philva6 Share on X

You can rate the picture that you use for commenting on blogs.

Give it some time to ‘register’ your new Gravatar photo.

Then go back to your WordPress Dashboard > Click on ‘Settings’ > Then ‘Discussion’ > Then scroll to the bottom & select ‘Gravatar’ as your ‘Default Avatar’ > Hit ‘Save’ > DONE!

Again, it may take up to an hour, I have heard for your new Gravatar image upload to ‘register’ itself online.

Now you are ready to go and place your picture next to your blog comment?

One thing I found out which is really neat is that your picture is automatically going to go on all of the past comments you have out there as long as you used the same email as with gravatar.

Now leave this page open, open a new window, go to gravitar.com and get this done, then come back here and give it a test by leaving a comment and see what your picture looks like next to it.

An Ever Green Guest post ! I recently updated it with few more information.

Pl. Do have a look. Recently i mentioned about this in a discussion at PAC where Joy Healy mentioned about the comment trouble and the chances of going our comments in the deep pit of those spam folders, ultimately to delete.
      Thanks

  2. Hi Philip and Cherry,

Thank you very much for once again highlighting the importance of a profile picture. There are a big number of blogs that we came across in daily life where author is not displaying a profile picture. We don’t feel fully connected or interested in those blogs with no profile images in it.

    • Hi Reji,
Thanks for finding time to drop in. :-)

Yes, that is really disgusting that our worth noting friends avatar pictures are showing in white head or blue heads, not only that from the bulk mails we get in our inbox cannot recognize the real or genuine writers, there are every chance to miss or delete the wonderful comments we receive in our in-boxes. if it carry a genuine picture automatically it got approved. sometimes the picture is not there the blog owner may not recognize to accept or approve the comment.
Many of my friends who use blogger.com face this problem, for such people Chery’s this post is a guiding tuto.
Thanks Chery for this wonderful tuto posted here for my friends.

In fact, a profile picture is an important thing in blogging, if it is not there, you may miss lot of things in the blogging field.

Some of the top commentators avtaar picture in this blog’s sidebar shows some disgusting figures! :-( I am sure my friends do not like that.
So please read this post and make a genuine avatar picture of yours. I am writing this in the reply to their comments here.

Season’s greetings Reji. Thanks again for finding time in this busy season. :-)

The things are getting ready, I will send you a PM in that regard.

Hope everything is fine with you

      Keep visiting, keep sharing

I do so agree with you, Chery. I am always messaging commenters and telling them how to add their avatar, Some ignore this and the default is used again and again, but every so often someone follows my advice and it is great to see their thumbnail image. Other times they create one and then use a different email address not realising that it is linked to the email you submit under the comment. Well, we can only keep trying.

    Enjoy the journey!

This is really a wonderful post. I will surely try this method for posting comments in the future. Yes, as you said, in the process of many different comments a blogger receives it is very difficult to filter the right and appropriate comments. Of course Akismet takes care of the spam comments but still, it is an easy thing for the blog owner to find the correct comment even from the spam folder. There are many good comments land in the spam folders of the bloggers, from where a blog owner can easily find out the good comments if the comments carry a good profile picture of the comment author. This post will help us to add a picture to our WordPress blog comments.
Thanks for making it clear for your comment authors.
    Keep it up.
    Best Regards
    Francis

    Hi, Philip!

This is indeed a great post, I really like your thoughts, and you have explained how graviator is so important in blogging.

Showing our real identity is most important in blogging. Standing behind the mask will surely damage your branding.

I would like to suggest that everyone should use your real image while posting comments on other blog posts.

That really shows your real identity, and it exposes to everyone that this photo belongs to me!
I think this is how branding starts.

Thank you, Philip, for sharing your post with us as well as thank you for the reminder that aviator is so valuable.
