The Power Of Blog Comments! A Great Strategy To Get More Traffic And Relationships.

Blog comments can play a vital role in our blogging journey.  A ton of material has been written on this subject by many expert authors on the pages of the internet.  But still, different experiences of bloggers are pouring in on the spaces of the internet!  I too have published few such notes on this subject elsewhere on my blog pages, blog communities, forums and social media pages.  In this post, I wanted to share yet another interesting experience and a tip, trick or a strategy for you to count on.

Yes, before coming to the subject I would like to mention a few lines which motivated me to write this post! Just the other day after posting a Facebook notification about one of my updated posts, a testimonial page on my page, something very interesting happened, and I would like to mention about it before writing about the subject.  My FB note was something like this: “More testimonials are coming in” and I shared the link to the post and tagged few famous bloggers’ names who shared the testimonials in the post.  Seeing this, one of my FB friends who is a famous personality in Indian blogging scenario jump+ into my chat box and said:

“nice to meet you, Philip I would like to speak to you now, can I?”

The time was a bit odd hour and everyone around was sleeping and I expressed my inability to speak over the phone, and then he wrote,

ok fine, Philip, U r a writer at some big sites right?

I said No, I am not a writer on any big site, I do write on my pages and share all around via my social sites, that’s it.

Then he said: “hey, I saw your write-ups on The Huffington post that was really fantastic.”

To that, I said:  Oh, that was a guest post published on behalf of me by one of my online friends.

To this, he said:  Hey, how are you building a relationship with foreign bloggers?  I saw wonderful testimonials on your blog by some famous personalities.

comments-countTo that question, I wrote:  “That is a big story, yes, and my relationship with writers around the world started since almost 7 or 8 years back when I first started writing on the pages of Google’s Knol pages.  I started this even without having a blog page of my own, you can read some of that write-ups on my blog at #Philipscom on these subjects (and I posted a few links to read),   in short, I started my blogging journey as a blog comment author without having a blog of my own, not even on the free sites like blogger dot com or WordPress dot com.    Without having a blog of my own, my comments got attracted by many bloggers in Associated Content, Google’s Knol pages, and various other platforms.  The co-authors there encouraged me to start a blog of my own, thus I started a blog on blogger dot com. and on a later stage, I migrated it on the pages of WordPress with my own domain.  Just two years completed and with all humbleness, I can say that now my Domain Authority and Page Authority (PA) of the page has increased tremendously  and our  Alexa stats too are on a satisfactory level and I am getting some monetary benefits too along with it.  Check out your  DA and PA by visiting this page at  MOZ.COM  I could achieve this just because of my relentless activities on my blog pages as well as by the interaction with the fellow blogger’s pages by contributing value added constructive comments.  Here is an informative post by a pro blogger Robin, which talks various aspects on increasing your Domain Authority.  How to Increase Your Domain Authority (DA)

I am really surprised to note that the above conversation happened not just with a newbie blogger instead of a well-established or a pro blogger, a public speaker who conducts seminars, conferences, and workshops all over India.  That really surprised me and I am sure this all happened just because of the basic thing the power of #blogcomments, or in other words, the powerful strategy of blog commenting on fellow bloggers posts.

I just mentioned this incident in this post, just to show the importance or the power of blog comments!

You can get into the good books of influencers by following this strategy very diplomatically.  I am confident that, I answered my friend’s query or anxiety through my conversation as well as through this post.

Yes, I repeat “Your relentless work on this strategy will help to achieve unexpected results” I am also sure that this never happens in few days’ time. Instead, it takes a lot of your time and indeed your continuous hard work you need to put behind this to happen.  But at the same time, I can very well say that this is not a big thing too!  Your dedication along with the hard work can fetch great results in this aspects.

I am sure, you can get into the good books of influencers by following this strategy very diplomatically.

I want to emphasize here again that, your value added blog comments are powerful and it can fetch many benefits on the way!  So take the time to do this on a daily basis as much as you can with much dedication and determination.

I want to emphasize here again that, your value added blog comments will fetch many benefits on the way!  So take the time to do this on a daily basis as much as you can with much dedication. Don’t just do this with the intention of just getting some backlinks, I am sure with that intention if you comment on pages you will not reach the goal. So take the decision to comment solid and relevant comments on others posts.

How To Get More Comments On Your Blog Posts?

While commenting, we need to be more careful, as I said just to get some backlink purpose if you say some generic words like, awesome, wonderful, amazing post, great post, I like it, I love it etc. your purpose of posting such comments on other pages will not fetch any good results.  Instead, such

Make solid, relevant comments on the subject, or ask or raise some doubts in relation to the subject through your comment, sometimes that may pave the way to a  great debate or a discussion.   So the comment First and foremost thing is read the post well and make sure you understood the content and then post your genuine opinion or your suggestion in the form of a feedback. If they are running a comment option like the CommentLuv Do follow link option it is more beneficial.  Select such pages read and comment,  you will get back some backlinks to your page. A Word of Caution!

There are some people who just have a look at the first and last paragraph of the content and say something and go, such comments can easily be recognized and know that this man posted that comment just to get a backlink from the high ranking site.  This is not a good trend or practice and not at all advisable
So make sure you make solid and constructive comments relevant to the published post.  That may invite others attention and it eventually lead others to your page, just because of that comment. This I am saying it from my experience.  So try to visit others pages and write comments from the heart. This I am saying it from my experience.  So try to visit others pages and write comments from the heart.

SEO quote Hussain pageIn a recent expert roundup post created by Hussain Omar of  CostEffectiveSEO I have mentioned this as an SEO Quote:

The best strategy to enhance your SEO rank is building trust-based relationships, with the influencers, on high ranking sites.  All that is really needed is your ability to deliver creative, value add, constructive comments on their Blog posts. Written from the heart.

Or in other words to get more interaction, use or apply the Give and Take policy, or  in other words, give first and take later policy.  I am sure this will work well if we follow it faithfully or genuinely.comment authors 4

By using this method there are chances to visit more and more people to our blog pages and post their feedback.

Due to this strategy and the popularity of your page by way of promotion through various social media and through other methods your comment box will fill with a lot of comments!  Then comments flow to our pages in large scale and ultimately reaching their pages with our feedback or the reciprocatory commenrelated posts on comment authorsts will again be a big task and sometimes due to the heavy workload, it may not happen immediately.    In such situation here is an option or let me say a savior, an amazing plugin by name “MyCommentAuthors” created by one of our online friends Enstine Muki of Make Money Blogging’ website.   He developed a plugin which helps us to create a list of our monthly comment authors on our sites With this plugin, I am creating a post every month to express a word of thanks to our comment authors  for their valuable presence on our page.  With this plugin, we can create an automatic mailing list of the people who commented on that month.  In fact, this ease lot of our work, I mean manually creating a list and sending a mail to each one of them is indeed a difficult job.  This plugin takes care that part and will send a mail in this regard to all the comment authors on that month. Some of the screen shots of that process of sending thanks, note to each of our comment authors you can see here.

This monthly series (My Comment Authors on the pages of Philipscom), We publish every first week of the month with my comment authors name, their profile picture, and their blog URLs.  I am using this plugin since its inception.

every first week of the month with my comment authors names, their profile picture, and their blog URLs.  I am using this plugin since its inception.

Please check out the following pictures:comment authors 2

Out of the total comment authors, we can give a special honor or mention of the top comment author of that month.  This will surely be a kind of encouragement to our visitors and commenters.

As I say and do every time, I reciprocate your valuable time by visiting your pages and dropping my feedback. When I write these concluding words I am reminded of Enstine Muki the developer of this wonderful plugin (MyCommentAuthors)  who mentioned me on one of his latest posts VERY FEW bloggers are doing this  In this post he very well emphasized the importance of reciprocity in blog commenting.

Your Blog Comments Can Fetch A Lot Of Benefits On the Way Check out this post @Philipscom Click To Tweet

In fact, it is a must to say a word of thanks or visiting back their page and reciprocate by adding our valuable responses on tcomments authorsheir posts. This plugin will take care half of that job by saying a word of thanks to your esteemed comment authors.

In a nutshell, “Your value added blog comments can fetch many benefits along the way, which includes tons of traffic as well as it pave the way to make good relationship with influencers.

I short, Indeed Blog comments can play a vital role in our blogging journey! Use this wonderful strategy of commenting on others pages wisely to get more comments, traffic, and of course the added advantage of making relationship or friendship with others.

I also take this time to tender an apology for deleting or taking out one word from the generated post below.  That is the word “Awesome” he used along with the comments. such as “I made 6   awesome comments”  I cannot give the word Awesome along with the word comment.  I firmly believe  that the word ‘Awesome’ should go along with the word “God Almighty” alone.

If you are a blogger I recommend you to visit Enstine’s page to get an idea about this plugin and its installation etc.  He posted a simple tutorial on this under the title: Boost Traffic & Engagement

Thanks Enstine for permitting me to take this opportunity to use your wonderful free plugin for creating this wonderful comment authors’ list.

I once again express my heartfelt thanks to all my visitors and comment authors for your valuable time on our page.

Keep visiting! Keep Sharing!

May you all have a great time of sharing and caring.

Wish You All A Wonderful Time of Eventful Interactive Month Of August 2016.

Yours Sincerely

Thank you so much for your valuable time here again.

      1. Hi Philip!
“There are some people who just have a look at the first and last paragraph of the content and say something and go, such comments can easily be recognized and know that this man posted that comment just to get a backlink from the high ranking site. This is not a good trend or practice and not at all advisable” I definitely agree with you on this.
I think if you leave a comment you need to bring some useful information or at least leave an honest opinion.
It is also awesome to engage an author of the post in the topic you’re passionate about.

  1. Hi Philip!

This is a very interesting and thoughtful article. I really appreciate your thoughts on comments, especially now that I think commenting in general has declined with the rise of other social media technologies. I’m going to try to make more of an effort to leave comments to writers who put a lot of hard work into each post. Thanks again!

    1. Hi Camilla,
Thanks for your insightful thoughts on this subject.
Yes, I fully agree with you that due to the excessive presence of social media, comments on blog pages are declined. The sad part is that many who comment on a particular post on the social media never drop that feedback on the original posts. This is what is happening generally, that is one of the reason why the decline of comments on blog posts.
Thanks for your decision to make comments on the original posts.
May you have a wonderful time of sharing and commenting.
      Best Regards

  3. Hey, Phil. I love commenting on your blog, with or without a plugin. Really, it’s the interaction that counts, wherever it takes place.

I guess I’ll also have to stop calling you awesome…except that the Bible says we were made in God’s image, so that should make you at least awesomish.

    1. Hi David,
Thanks again for your valuable time here.
Yes, I know you love to comment constructive ones on my page!
      I appreciate you for that!
Coming to the point on the word Awesome I partially agree with you, yes, no doubt, as the Bible says, God made us in His image, but still I believe, that does not give us the eligibility to take His position equal with him. Thanks a lot for sharing your time and for the insight thoughts you brought into this post.
      Have a good day
      ~ Phil

  4. Hey Phil,

There are many things to do while blogging but the blog commenting is my favorite. You would get many people to your blog to read the blog posts. But when it comes to showing the presence through a comment is always appreciated.

I always say that making human bonds is the most important thing to do to survive in the blogosphere. Blog commenting generate a new strength to your blog.

    Thanks for this great article.
Hope you are having a good time.

I am happy to be in the list again. This month I was not able to read many of your posts though, however, hope that I will be more active in August. Thank you for honouring the comment authors on a continuous basis. Take care and have a wonderful month ahead.

  8. Hi Phil,

Good to be over at your blog after a while 🙂

Yes, my name won’t show up here as I haven’t been around – being on a longish blogging break and have just returned! I agree about the power of blog commenting. It may take time to read, assemble your thoughts before sitting to write a meaningful comment, when you visit any blog – but that is one thing that has always worked for most bloggers. Not to mention the relationships you build with fellow bloggers, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    1. Hi Harleena,
It is indeed a great joy to see you here again after your vacation break,
Hope you enjoyed the break. Yes, I fully agree with you it really take
time to present a constructive comment on others posts. Reading is the
main part here. Of course the other benefits like building relationships etc will surely follow.
Thanks for your valuable insight you brought in via your feedback.
May you have a great week ahead

  10. Phil,

It’s amazing to hear more about your background and how you started blogging only in the comments section.
You are some of the most prominent bloggers to write about this subject.

Thanks for sharing and as always, I wish you all the best moving forward. 🙂

    Cheers,

  11. Hi Sir,
I think comments are the most important thing to a writer or a content publisher. Why do we blog? Why do we write and share it? Just because we want others to know what we think, we want them to read and share their views. And one people do so our motive is completed.

You are getting great number of comments each month. Hope it will increase daily.
    Have a nice week ahead.

  12. Hi Philip. blog comments are so important to a blog, it keeps the conversation going and you can get to know your readers. Once you know your readers you can tailor your content for them. I used to use this plugin – I should reactivate it once again.
I don’t understand the blogs that have shut their commenting down, I think they should be considered more of an online essay or book vs a blog.

    1. Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much for your valuable time and wonderful feedback.
Yes, as said, our comments may bring or start a wonderful dialogue with the readers.
And that helps us to understand more about our readers needs and accordingly we can tune in.
Yes, sad are the ways of people who shut their door to the comment authors! 🙁
Thanks again for your wonderful insights into the subject.
      I appreciate.
      Best

  13. Hi Phil Sir,

First of all, I would like to say thanks for this amazing article where you included some of my friends as comments authors of your blog. Really, I like your strategy to get more traffic and agree with you that commenting plays an important role in blogging.

I’m new to your blog. It was my big mistake that I missed your blog. Now, I want to keep visiting your blog regularly to get more favorable information to enrich my knowledge.

    Thank you
    – Srimantha

  14. Hi Philip,

Blog commenting is still one of the best ways to get some serious traffic and audience engagement. I like the way people are engaging with your blog.

You have earned it. Keep writing. 🙂

  15. Hi Philip,
I have seen some bloggers talking that blog comments are not actually helpful in increasing traffic. Somehow I don’t agree to their point.
It was really an interesting interaction of yours with that Indian guy. This proves that how blog comments are very powerful in building a brand for any blogger.
You always encourage the blog commenter’s on your blog by mentioning them in your articles.
That’s why I love to be a part of your blogging family.
    With regards,
    Saurav

  16. Hi Philip,

Gosh – how can another month have gone by so quickly?

It was interesting to read about your conversation with the other blogger. You’re obviously building a strong brand, and all credit to you because I know how hard you work.

I’m having technical problems with my blog comments at the moment. Many people have told me they can’t leave a comment. Yet others can. So frustrating. Never mind, I guess one day I’ll be free of technical problems.

    Thanks for the mention.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Joy – Blogging After Dark

  17. Hi Brother Phil,

Eventhough, I made only one comment in the blog this time, I am happy to see your thank you note again.

  18. Dear Philip

Need to mention this is a very interesting and thoughtful article. I acknowledge your thoughts on comments, and agree that commenting in general has declined with the rise of other social media technologies. I assure to make an effort to leave comments to writers who put a lot of hard work into each post. Thanks again!

  19. Hi Phil,
Comments are also very important to keep your blog alive, when people start to discuss your website content they probably will visit your website again and again. Also I believe it plays an important role in your website ranking as Google loves fresh content and regularly updated websites.
I also like your idea of displaying your blog most comments authors in the right sidebar, this will also encourage your website visitors to comment.

  20. Hi,

Thanks for sharing the power of blog commenting. I agree with you, valuable comments add more value to our profile. You know maximum websites giving no follow back links, so for backlinking strategy, its not a wise decision. Though no follow add value on websites.

    ~Taposh

  24. Hey Philip,

    Thanks for the mention!
Your quote is really inspiring! And yes, with relationships with other bloggers, SEO becomes easier, and how it will be possible without engagement! Sharing, liking and retweeting others stuffs is important, and of course commenting on their posts plays the huge role, as it forms the relationships and conveys a lot of messages.

  26. Hi Philip Sir,

  27. Hi Philip,

I’m a firm believer that only when I leave useful (perhaps value add) comments on other Blogger’s site will I increase the engagement on my posts.

Bloggers always reciprocate. I have deep abiding faith in that truism.

That said, I’ve noticed that today the commenter has to be a lot more patient than earlier on.

Initially after one maybe two comments, the commenter would begin to get comments in return on their posts. For newbies, this can be painful.

Newbies, get all excited when they leave two / three comments expecting some engagement in return BUT experience nothing.

Today, I’ve noticed that unless one leaves at least five to eight useful comments on a Blog site, one cannot catch the attention of the blogger.

Unfortunately, a lot of Bloggers don’t seem to have the patience to churn out 5 to 8 good quality comments before triggering engagement.

Authority Bloggers get so many excellent comments that its pretty tough for them to reciprocate by leaving a comment in return on each commentor’s site. Only the few really great comments get a comment back in return.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of Authority Bloggers, leave only a one line / two line comment in return. Something that they themselves say one should not do when leaving a comment.

Even with all of this happening, writing engaging, value add comments is a terrific way of getting good quality back links from an authority site, with the very least pain.

Thank you for a really well researched and elegantly structured Blog post, Philip. Appreciate the effort that went into creating this terrific post.

    Warmly,

    Ivan Bayross

  28. Hi Philip,

Good read, indeed. I saw your comment on my blog and headed straight to yours. For some reason your comment was lying in the spam folder, hence the late reply.

Coming to blog commenting, it is a proven way of building relationships with fellow bloggers. Not to forget the amazing information you get by reading the posts and the wonderful people you get to know in the process.

Personally, I dedicate most of my time in writing, however, I have made it a point to visit fellow bloggers and interact with them through blog commenting.

See you around Philip. Enjoy your weekend!

  29. Hi Philip Sir,

  31. […] Open your eyes wide open and look around what your fellow bloggers, seniors, as well as the juniors, doing.  First keep a watch on them, and  learn few lessons from them, I am sure you can pick up one or two or even more lessons from them through their pages.  Check out what types of contents they are posting and who are the visitors and what are the comments they are posting there etc. Knowing such things will give an urge to go forward and follow or adopt a style of yourself.  So watch carefully, and evaluate yourself, can I do this as they do! or mold yourself and find out your ability or talent then utilize it accordingly.  Don’t just copy what they do, instead create a style of your own! To do this you can select a subject and do a searching in the web world by using Google search OR twitter search studying such search results will give you and idea to go forward.  Remember, as I said, please do not just copy or follow what others are doing, try to develop a style of your own, your deep desire and hard work will definitely work wonders, and develop a unique style of your own.  Good Wishes! 2. Post Your Feedback Regularly On Other Blog Pages. When following the point number one, try to air your feedback as comments at the bottom of the post after you finished reading.  This will definitely improve your ability to air your opinion on any subject you go through.  This will also enable you to get an interaction with the author.  Most of the content writers will respond to their readers’ comments.  Very few do not mind to give any response, don’t worry, some are super busy and but don’t lose heart!  But you air your opinion, suggestion or whatever you feel, If that opinion is a genuine one definitely other readers also will respond to it and most probably soon they visit your page.  While posting a comment please note that you make the relevant comment on the said subject.  Irrelevant or meaningless comments will count as spam and no one will notice or respond to it.  Stick to the subject and point, don’t write an essay in the comment column.  If you want to say more write a separate post by linking back to the post.   Commenting relevant comments at blog posts is no doubt a good start to get the attention of other writers as well as other readers/audience. If you post an intelligent comment people will definitely notice your point and will rush to your page.  I have experienced this myself and also noticed in many cases.  Don’t just say a one-word feedback like, “Nice” “Awesome” “Fantastic”, “Great”, “Super” etc. even without going through the post some readers posts, comments like this, avoid such practice.  Since most of the blog platforms have a provision to get back to your page you need not give a back link in your comment.  It automatically takes them if they click on your username or avatar (Profile) picture. Make this as a regular practice, or say or take a firm decision like: ‘daily I will visit a minimum of 5 to 10 blogs and post comments’. In the initial you can start with less number and later if you increase the number according to your time availability, I am sure that will not be a time waste for you.   Instead, I am sure this will give an opportunity to get more traffic to your page, as well as it leads to many other benefits on a long run. Read a post which explains some of these points in a bit more detailed way! A Great Strategy To Get More Traffic And Other Benefits!  […]

  32. […] Another vital aspect I want to emphasize is about the feedback from our site visitors.  And as I often say, the website owners and the writers should keep their ears open to their reader’s opinion, suggestion or feedback about their site via their comment boxes.  Unless we get an open opinion about our site and posts from our readers how can one improve further on our business or activity? In short, I can say that Our comments or our visitors comments on our page can do wonders with our website and other activities. I recently post an article on this subject under the title, “Power of Blog Comments“. […]

  33. Hi Philip,
Comments, comments, comments! It’s the best way to get traffic. And free too! Sure you can buy Ads.. and banners, etc. But there’s nothing like someone visiting your site and leaving a comment. Increases your ranking on search engines too. And, most return the favor … you do such a great job at this too. Many can learn much from you!

Blog comments are very important in blogging.
As you said, each blogger eagerly wait for readers responses.
